Runway & Row

In partnership with several organizations in the Sarasota-Bradenton community, the 2017 World Rowing Championships invites you to join us for a series of events dedicated to the ongoing fight against breast cancer. The ultimate goal is to celebrate our cancer survivors, educate others about screening and early detection, and most importantly, raise donations for the research that will one day find a cure for the deadly disease.

Come out and support breast cancer survivors, and help us fight to end breast cancer forever!

On October 1, 2017, The Mall at University Town Center will light up pink in honor of the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Also on this day, the 2017 World Rowing Championships has dedicated its Expo Area to highlight a Health and Wellness theme, with vendors on-site dedicated to helping our community stay happy and healthy! With the help of our community partners, we expect to have an amazing turnout of organizations focused on the fight against breast cancer. Some entertainment you can expect on stage will include our Breast Cancer Survivor Fashion Show, demonstrations by Nathan Benderson Park’s Dragon Boat team—The Survivors in Sync, and In the Pink—a store in our hometown that’s trying to make a difference for women living with breast cancer.

Row for the Cure Erg-A-Thon

For the final HOORAH, through the donations of a generous community partner, the 2017 World Rowing Championships has planned a Row for the Cure Erg-a-Thon, with the goal of raising $$ dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer. Using stationary rowing machines on land, this event requires no previous rowing experience! This Row for the Cure will be taking place throughout our final day of competition, and our generous partner has committed to matching a specific dollar amount to every meter rowed all day on the ergs!! The 2017 World Rowing Championships plans to have signature races planned all day where YOU can go head-to-head with Olympic Medalists, Pro-Athletes, and many other celebrities! This Row for the Cure is a free event included in admission into the 2017 World Rowing Championships, however donations to our local breast cancer Charities are greatly appreciated!
